  1. WHY CONTINUE TEACHING IN A PHYSICAL LOCATION ANYWAY?

Please tell me? Why do we need buildings to pay for and manage, to maintain and keep?
Materials, applications, peripheral equipment, hardware/software and computers which in order to keep up with competing nations, must be periodically updated every 5 years approximately. Technology will need to be brought up to the current standards. Millions of dollars of wasteful management.
We have the buildings already. They could be converted, or sold. Imagine the government making money off of the sale of a building, or 10,000 buildings. This might actually cause taxes to go down. No need to keep peeling the money off of us. :)
A single building could house enough teachers to educate many thousands of students. These students can be in any corner of the world. Imagine how excited a teacher in America would be to be speaking with and teaching students in Tibet, or Chile, etc.
Of course, now we are talking about real competition, because the teachers could be teaching from any country in the world.
Is status quo enough. I don’t think so!

    1. I agree that having so much capital tied up in our schools is a drain on the society. Short of divesting of the buildings, we could start with having rooms and computers available for people to access learning and resources online. There could be short term housing for homeless, walk-in health care, community fitness centers, etc.
